Tell us a little bit about yourself (i.e., professional background, hobbies, interests, etc.).
Professionally, I “grew up” in the hotel industry, later branching out into negotiating, client relationship management, program management and eventually recruitment.
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and raised just across the border in East Texas, I bleed blue and silver as a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. My career eventually took me to the West Coast, where I met my husband, Mike, and I think it’s funny that I had to move from Texas to California to find a Cowboys fan I could marry! We ultimately landed in the Pacific Northwest and love it here.
When not in work mode, Mike and I spend time cheering on our three incredible daughters as they pursue their passions—competing in western gaming shows with their horses or showcasing their hip-hop choreography and dance moves. You will also find us vacationing in tropical locations or traipsing around town with our woofers—Kenji the Chiweenie and our mischievous Staffordshire terrier, Bleu, affectionately known as Bad Girl Bleucifer.
What is the most valuable resource you provide to our members, and what does an average day look like?
My recruiting experience spans various industries, including creative consumer goods, engineering and health care, equipping me with an understanding of the unique hiring challenges of different sectors and the ability to communicate with and “read” a wide range of people. My background in negotiating allows me to provide added support to help secure top-level candidates and negotiate favorable terms for our members. By providing insightful feedback to members on candidates and dedicating a detailed level of attention to every recruitment, I enable our members to make informed hiring decisions while saving them hours of valuable time. Ultimately, the goal is to alleviate the burden of recruitment from our members’ shoulders, allowing them to focus on their day-to-day responsibilities and drive success within their organizations.
Every day is different, but a typical day includes writing job ads, reviewing resumes, interviewing candidates, consulting with members, collaborating and brainstorming with teammates, strategizing, networking and problem-solving.
Tell us something unique about you.
I studied abroad in Spain during college and was fortunate enough to travel some across Europe.
What is one thing you cannot live without?
It’s impossible to narrow it down to one! I don’t think I could live without Spotify, “Schitt’s Creek,” a good glass of wine and my family.
