Meet Maria Haberle, Account Manager

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am originally from New Mexico and moved to Portland about six years ago. I absolutely love the Pacific Northwest, and moving here really helped to awaken the adventurer in me. I am currently in the process of finishing my bachelor’s in communications. I really enjoy trying new things, whether it’s a new food or a new activity—last year, I took up stand-up paddleboarding and fell in love with it, and just three years ago, I learned to ski and have been working on getting better each year.

What do you do at Fuel, and what is the most valuable resource you provide to our members?

I am an account manager at Fuel for Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. I believe the most valuable resource I provide to our members is offering a plethora of ideas to meet their goals—and the ability to think outside of the box to fit a tight budget.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

Typically, my morning starts with reading through any emails I may have gotten and adding to my to-do list. I work on my projects within our workflow system to move them to the right department and ensure they meet member requirements and preferences. I reach out to my members with any project updates or follow-ups. Most of my days also include a call or two, whether internal or with my members.

What is your professional background?

I started in banking and worked in credit union operations before moving into agricultural sales, where I wore many hats (customer consulting, accounting, arts event coordination and inventory). I made the decision that I wanted to work more closely with project management and had a friend at Fuel that suggested I apply! I’ve now been at Fuel for two-and-a-half years and am in my third position with the company.

What do you like to do in your free time? Do you have a fun fact about yourself you’d like to share?

I don’t have as much free time these days, but when I do have the time, I like to travel, eat good food with friends, read, play video and board games, go hiking, and take black and white film photos. A fun fact about me is that I’m a certified audio engineer, though I’ve never used the title outside of my schooling and internship to complete the certification.
